One Cent, Two Cents, Old Cent, New Cent

Please read the disclaimer first.

Can you explain the three main functions of money to your children?

I was raised in a family where money was hardly ever the subject of conversation.

And of course, it is hardly taught at school, if ever.
(Or I just plain do not remember learning about it.)

That caused financial illiteracy, which led to lots of missed opportunities.  :(

For example, my strategy for growing my bank account was to deposit money on the day before interest was issued.
(Hint:  You will only get 1 day's worth of interest.)

If you have no idea how you should allocate your 401(k), you know what I mean.

It's never too late to learn, which is why I blog here.

But I believe you should start very early with your kids, so they can become financially literate.

The Cat in the Hat book, "One Cent, Two Cents, Old Cent, New Cent" discusses money for children.

Here is what the smartest people have to say about the utility of money.

Let's compare with the book.

So this enables you to introduce your children to money, Dr. Seuss style.

It even teaches you how money is made (literally)!  :)
